Your bird should not smell. Sometimes if you put your face close to a bird and breathe in deeply, you can detect a faint scent, but birds do NOT naturally smell and neither do their droppings. That could be a sign of illness, but even that is rare. Did you bring her to an avian vet or a regular vet? Regular vets usually do not know much about birds at all so if you did not bring her to an avian vet, you should definitely find one.
Maybe she has some scent on her from wherever you got her from. Have you given her a shower/bath yet? Do NOT use soap or any kind of fragrance or perfume- that could make her very sick- but most macaws love showers. I used to take mine in the shower with me and he loved it. You can also spritz her with a water bottle. Just be careful when you do it the first time because sometimes they get scared. Make it fun and if she likes it, get her drenched! (Of course, don't ever dunk her in a bath or tub of water or anything- just spray her or bring her in the shower and let her enjoy it!)

i have the Chiquita Dometop and i was so easy to put together! did it myself in under 20 minutes. like that its so simple and there are no nuts and bolts which makes it so easy. Its a super nice cage and hope i can buy another in the future

you can keep any bird outside as long as the bird is not taken from the heat out into the cold (changes in temps) there is cockatoos on you tube playing in the snow its so cute!!! they just cant be brought from inside a warm house and then taken out side where its freezing but you also know you can have birds and cats in the same house right you just have to train them! if you need more help with this you can email me at
